Playing in Paradise #90

There is still time to play with us :) join in the fun for the current Playing in Paradise challenge.

I could not resist creating a second card for this challenge, I have had this seagull stamp for forever and I don't even think I have inked it up before. The silly thing kept going round and round in my head.

It is a pretty basic card, a few layers, a little bit of punch use, finished with some twine and gems.

My husband, ever my supported says ' Who in the world will you give a seagull card too".  I like it so I don't care :). When I look at it I hear the seagull from Nemo saying  "Mine" "Mine" Mine" and my husband at odd in appropriate times ask  " Where do seagulls sleep at night".

Supplies: Cream and black cardstock, Designer Paper -Authentique, Fiskars - All Year Greeting, Inkadinkado -Gull misc punches, twine and gems.

Cheers,
Nina

Merry Monday #39

Happy Monday everyone, another short post for the new Merry Monday challenge. Lesley has a fantastic sketch for us on her Always Playing with Paper blog.

You will have to forgive the photo of this card, I turned it every which way but I was not happy with it. The snowflake has lots of sparkle as does the panel in the center with tiny glitter dots. I used lots of layers for this card. I cut the snowflake and glittery shadow out with my Cricut, I added a small navy circle between the layers to add definition.

The sentiment is accompanied by silver twine and glitter dots.

Playing in Paradise #90

Whoo hoo it is Friday and that means there is a new Playing in Paradise challenge. I am hostess this week and I have chosen  "All Things Nautical" as my inspiration for this challenge.  I live on an island and with naval ships, lighthouses and boats of all sizes out my back door, there is a ton of inspiration.

I used the lighthouse as my focal point.. naturally. I coloured the image using Tombow markers and an aqua painter. I used a mask and sponge to make the clouds then added in the seagulls. I finished by adding the sentiment, sheer ribbon and a button.

I used pages from 6x6 paper pad from Authentique as my background, take a look at the Scrapbooker's Paradise online store for a fabulous selection of Designer Paper.

Stop by the Playing in Paradise blog, the challenge design team had some fabulous samples they have created.

Supplies: Natural White and navy cardstock, Designer Paper-Authentique, Close to My Heart - Perfect Day, sheer ribbon, misc button.

Cheers,
Nina

Tuesday Morning Sketches #169

A super quick post today, I have been under the weather this week but I hid in my little craft space as I was suffering last night. I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches as my inspiration.

I flipped the sketch, I did have a pretty autumn flower image all prepped for the circle but it would not fit the sentiment I wanted.  I ended up die cutting a butterfly, I spritzed it with Goosebumps and added glitter. I used a spellbinders die to back my sentiment.

I created a 3 layer button with circle punches and then added some filament twine to match the glitter. I finished by creating matching glitter dots with some glue.

Supplies: Cream, rust and mustard cardstock, Designer Paper-My Mind's Eye, Spellbinders die cut, Memory Box die cuts, misc punches, glitter and twine.

Cheers,
Nina

Merry Monday #38

I think it is now about 10 weeks till Christmas, every year seems to zoom on by a little quicker. With that said, it is time new Merry Monday Challenge, Lesley has created a great sketch for us.

I flipped the sketch around for this card,  I dug through the depths of my stamp for this cute little chickadee . I grew up in a very small town and as kids it usually did not take much to amuse us. I always thought that a chickadee's singing sounded like 'tea's ready' and loved it,  thinking  of course that I was so clever singing it back.

I used my newly acquired Authentique - Peaceful 6x6 paper pad. I added lots layers and a little foam tape. I finished with a few black pearls. I coloured the chickadee with my watercolour pencils.

Playing in Paradise #89

Happy Friday everyone!!  The new Playing in Paradise Challenge has been posted and Merlie is inspiring us with colour.

PPC89

I started with one of my many Authentique 6x6 paper pads, the 4 different DP pages I chose all have this wonderful colour combination. The paper pad is named Journey which I though was perfect for someone's fitness story.

I used my Slice & Think Pink design card to cut out the fitness shapes each from a different sheet of DP then popped them up with foam tape. I layered the small background shapes and added some texture.

I finished with a popped up sentiment, some twine and an embellishment I created with punches and a pearl.

Merry Monday #37

This weekend seemed to zoom on by again, it is Monday already :). The rain sure is making up for lost time, I am not complaining though as it is perfect nesting weather. My husband brought me a new Tassimo as an early birthday prezzie and I loved snuggling down with book and sipping a Vanilla Latte.

I have not looked at any count downs to Christmas but it is coming up quickly. Lesley has a new sketch for us for Merry Monday.

I was all over the place with this card, I think I have all the sketch elements just not anywhere they should be.  This new 6x6 Carta Bella paper pad arrived in the mail and I could not wait to make a card.

There are tons of layers to this card, the ovals are 3 layers deep and my new Dee Designs die cut is layered and popped up with foam tape.  I cut out a portion of the DP for the sentiment and added the twine. It was not until I finished the card that I realized I had forgotten the flag so I added a small one after the fact.  The card may be crazy busy but I like how it turned out.

Supplies: Cream and brown cardstock, Designer Paper-Carta Bella, Dee Designs-Die Cuts, misc twine, Spellbinders dies cuts, embossing folder, misc punch.

Playing in Paradise #88

Happy Friday one and all, did you have a good week. Mine was shortened at work which I will never complain about :).

It is time for a new Playing in Paradise challenge from Scrapbooker's Paradise. Angela is encouraging us to use repetition or echoing. Play along and you might win the weekly prize...

I did not have far to look for my new 8x8 Cosmo Cricket paper pad, it has been sitting on the edge of my desk encouraging me to create all week.

I decided to make sure I covered all the bases, I used muliple sentiment flags and mixed the sizes up a little. I used balloon die cuts with patterned paper then popped them up with foam tape. I have the twine held in place with little spots of glue.

Supplies: Cream and brown cardstock, Designer Paper-Cosmo Cricket, Hot off the Press-Mix your Messages, The stamps of Life - balloons2cut, misc twine.

Merry Monday #36

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian blog visitors, family and friends.  I hope you have been enjoying your long weekend. Our weather has been stunning, I don't recall having such a beautiful start to fall for a long time. I was over in Abbotsford celebrating World cardmaking day with my sister and it was a stunning 26 degrees, I think I touched up my summer tan :) . Anyhoo...

It is time for a new Merry Monday challenge, again Lesley has outdone herself with this fabulous sketch.

I have to admit I enjoyed making this card, it was so fun. The tree was part of a 12 x 12 DP sheet that I could not resist chopping up :) don't worry, I used all the scraps for other parts of the card.

I added some texture to panel and tree, I used my Slice to cut out the star. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment then added some light coloured snowflakes on the background. I finished by adding some gold twine and gold and red pearls to the tree.

Supplies: Cream and brown cardstock, Designer Paper-Fancy Pants, Inspired by Stamping - Christmas Greetings, Verve-Bright Spirits, Recollections pearls, misc twine, embossing folder.

Stop by Always Playing with Paper to see what Lesley and the Merry Makers have created. We would love for you to play along with us for Merry Monday this week.

I don't have to cook for anyone today and I get the day to myself... cardmaking anyone :).

Belated World CardMaking Day

World CardMaking Day.. after the fact J. I did get to make a card on Saturday, after my sister and I brought out the contents of multiple craft stores.

I took my basic card making kit with my as usual, the plan was to shop a little then spend some creative time together. It was not till I was almost near the end of my first card I realized I had not put any cardstock in my supplies to make card bases... so I created a couple of cards without the base then mounted them once I got home.

I though this double-sided DP was so unique I did not want to add to much to the card, the center focal point and sentiment are  popped up with foam tape. I finished with a brown clear button and some embroidery floss

Supplies: Cream and brown cardstock, Designer Paper-Prima, Inspired by Stamping-Fancy Sentiments, misc embroidery floss and button.

Nina

Playing in Paradise #87

Happy Friday everyone, I am so excited for this Thanksgiving long weekend. I am not cooking this year, I think that will feel a little wierd but I can't say I will miss all the work that goes into the big 'feast'.  My husband and son will be scattered to the winds this weekend but I am getting to visit with family that I have not seen in a while and for that I am Thankful.

Enough about me, after all 'It is all about the Cards' :). We have a new Playing in Paradise challenge for you today, Allison has created one of her fabulous sketches for us.

PPC87

I have to admit I struggled with this sketch a little, the base of the card sat for days as I tried to figure out how I wanted to add the elements. When I finally thought I had finished the card, it was just the squares. My sister said they brought to mind Happy Happy Happy when she saw them(squares), which then triggered the idea in my head for the little buttons and the candy dots... cards really should not have drama :)

Anyway... I used lots of layers, this DP is from Bazzill Basics - Timeless Multipack one of my 6x6 paper pad finds in the online Scrapbooker's Paradise store that I was determined to use. I used square and circle punches and finished with candy dots, and a clock charm and twine.

Supplies: Cream and brown cardstock, Designer Paper-Bazzill Basics, misc circle and square punches, twine, candy dots and misc charm.

Be sure to stop by the Scrapbooker's Paradise Pondering blog to take a look at all the wonderful projects that the Challenge team have created. For my Canadian visitors have a happy and healthy Thanksgiving weekend.

Tuesday Morning Sketches

I could not wait to ink up this new stamp set when it arrived today, it seems like I have been waiting for it for forever. This sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches worked perfectly.

Each layer is backed with cardstock to give it a slight edge and I used an embossing folder to add a little texture here and there. I cut out the onsie and inked the edges and did a little fussy cutting for the little sail boat. I used alot of foam tape to add dimention to a few of the layers and the sentiment.

Supplies: Cream and brown cardstock, Designer Paper-Simple Stories, The Stamps of Life-Onsie4baby, Inspired by Stamping-Little Phrases,  Candy Dots, Cropadial, embossing folder.

ISPY Challenge #35

I am sneeking in a short post this evening before I drag my weary self off to bed. I started this card the other night but ended up getting busy and had to leave it on the crafttable, I could not resist finishing it off.

I love the simple sketch this week from ispy sketches.

Isn't this paper stunning, it is flocked and is all soft and velvety. I added layers of bronze shimmer and brown cardstock.  The sentiment was stamped then I used a circle punches to create an element that was popped up with foam tape and topped with an  elegant gem.  I added a little sheer ribbon before gluing it all together.

Supplies: Cream. bronze and brown cardstock, Designer Paper-KaiserCraft, The Stamps of Life-Happy2becircles, misc sheer ribbon, Recollections gems, misc punches, spellbinders die cuts.

Cheers,
