Of many hearts

I had planned to craft today and just kept getting side tracked, so I am posting a card I made yesterday. I have been taking horrid pictures as of late, so please ignore the slight blur to this one.

I made this card for a wedding we are attending next weekend, one of her colours is a deep purple. I don’t know why I have kept rolls of tulle from my own wedding with my craft supplies but I have it so I thought I would see if I could make it work on a card.

I went with a simple layout, a subtle DP with a thin purple layer then I gathered the tulle and held it in place with the sentiment which is heat embossed and popped up with foam tape. I added a mix of die cut hearts with different sizes and texture. I even added a little Wink of Stella to a couple to add some shimmer.

Supplies: Cream and purple card stock, Designer Paper - DCWV, Paper Smooches - Salutations, Sizziz Embosslits, Memory Box die cuts, tulle.

Merry Monday Christmas Challenge #121

It's monday and you know what that means, it is time for a new Merry Monday Christmas Challenge. Wendy is our hostess this week and her challenge is to Use Pinecones & Greens with Plaid ribbon on your card.

I wanted simple layers for my card, I used some distress inks to darken the edges of both layers. I stamped the sentiment and pinecones in brown then the pine in green. I had this fun plaid ribbon but it was a little too bright so I darkened it with the same distress inks. I have the center panel popped up with foam tape.

Seize the Birthday - Yellow

Sunny cheery yellow,  I don’t think I would have ever chosen to make an almost all yellow card on my own but the current challenge over at Seize the Birthday is to create a monochromatic yellow card. The challenge is to celebrate Lesley’s birthday and I like the way this card turned out :).

I keep coming back to this simple layout but it just seemed to work for this challenge. I found some yellow and white designer paper for the background and added some  twine. I heat embossed the sentiment and finished with some sequins.

Supplies: White and yellow card stock, Designer Paper – My Mind’s Eye, Inspired by Stamping -stamps and die cuts, twine, sequins.

The Challenge #11

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend, I know I am. I have to admit that we have had a wonderful summer so far and there is still so much more to come. Yesterday my husband and I went to a national park in the area Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse, a treasure almost in our backyard. We had a picnic and did a little historical tour… loved it.

Anyhoo, card.. yes.. right :). I made this card days and day well about at least 4 :) but just had not taken a photo yet. I am squeaking under the wire for  The Challenge #11, I only worked with the sketch that Lesley created. Is it too busy do you think? Does that embellishment look like a big eyeball? Ahh well :).

I love layers, so that is what I did and I was determined to use this designer paper too. I used a few die cuts for the different elements and finished with a popped up sentiment.

Supplies: White and black cardstock, Designer Paper - Teresa Collins, MFT, Spellbinders and Memory Box die cuts, misc thanks, enamel dots.

Congratulations

I have had some great crafty time this week. I realised that I don’t have a Retirement sentiment so I had to be creative, Congratulations was my first choice but I think I might end of saving it for something else.

I was stuck for a layout when I first started the card so I cased this card by Vicki which you can see HERE. I stamped the watercolour image then added some gems. I popped up the center panel and layered the rest. I even added some texture to the large flag.

Supplies: Cream and brown cardstock, Designer Paper –My Minds Eye, Stampin’ Up! – Watercolor Trio, Close to my Heart - For Every Occasion, embossing folder, ribbon, gems.

Chenille and Sequins

I have a card with a simple layout today. I pulled out my new Basic Grey 6 x 6 paper pad and snagged two pages to put this together. A recent trip to Jo-Anns while on vacation had me picking up a couple of cute stamp sets made by Jillibean Soup, and of course I need to ink them up.

The sentiment is heat embossed in brown then popped up with foam tape. I added some chenille like twine, digging into my fly tying supplies for that :) and finished with some randomly placed sequins.

Supplies: Cream and brown cards stock, Designer Paper-Basic Grey, Jillibean Soup-Birthday, twine, sequins.

Merry Monday Card Challenge #120

Good Morning and welcome to a new Merry Monday Christmas Challenge. This week I am the hostess for this challenge I am asking you to Use Skis, skates or a sled on your card.

I grew up in a small town, my childhood had a lot of outdoor time - we had a big hill to go sledding and a lake to skate. There was a small ski hill not far from us but cross country skiing was more common. I don't recall the last time I had fun doing any of these activiies but my husband and I enjoy snowshoeing when we get the chance.

I found a great designer paper with trees on it then created some snow drifts with white card stock and popped them up with foam tape. I stamped and die cut the skies and sled and put them behind the snow drifts. I added a simple sentiment and some white flowersoft  as snow.

Supplies: White and brown card stock, Designer Paper – XX, XX, clipart, PaperTrey Ink - Stamps and die cuts, white flower soft.

The Merry Monday design team of talented ladies had some great inspiration waiting for you over on the blog... Stop by, and play along.
