Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge #170

Well the summer vacation high is long gone, my work week last week proved to be long and a little stressful.  The long week and days will continue as we transition through a move back into a renovated building.

Although I was tired it was really hard for my brain to not spin like a top as I got some great news... I applied for and was successful for a new position at work.

On to the card, we have a new Merry Monday Christmas card challenge this fine fine Monday Morning. Karren wants us to create a Christmas card with holly on it.

I was not satisfied with any of my holly stamps but finally found some designer paper I could selectively cut out for a holly wreath which is popped up with foam tape. I finished with a sentiment.

Supplies: Cream and brown card stock, Designer Paper recollections, misc die cuts,

Simple Birthday

Can you feel it ? I was out for a walk last night and the cooler fall temps are starting to creep in during late evenings and early mornings. We are still on the streak of summer sun during the day but I think I am ready for fall, I am not keen on the fading light but I did not ever think I would ever get bored of beautiful sunny days. I am saying it though, bring on the rain.. My pumpkins are all orange already and are not going to make it till Halloween :).

A simple card for today, I actually used the Freshly Made Sketches design from a couple of weeks but I knew I would not get it posted for the challenge.

Basic layers, a popped up sentiment, a little twine and voila.

Supplies: Cream and black card stock, Designer Paper - Authentique, Papertrey Ink - Birthday Bash, cuts, twine.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #315

We have a new sketch for Tuesday Morning Sketches, our sponsor this week is Digital Delights by Looby Lou

I brought these pretty autumn papers when I was away and could not wait to use them. I altered the sketch just a little to accommodate my card, I did not want this wonderful image to be covered by the flags.

This image is already coloured so I just added a little Wink of Stella for an added bit of sparkle. I printed the sentiment off from Word and then added some foam tape to pop it up. I finished with some gems in place of stitches.

We would love for you to play along, stop by the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog to see all the great cards created by the Design Team. Don't forget to leave us a comment :).

Supplies: Cream card stock, Designer Paper - Carta Bella, Digital Delights - Sunflower Arrangement coloured, due cuts, gems.

Sit Long, Talk Much

I seem to be having all sorts of issues with blogger using my favorite font and spacing so I am going to try something new. I have a another card from my recent cardfest with my sister.

When I found this DP I thought it was so cute, I had no idea where/how I was going to use it as I think it is a series for smaller children this one perhaps for potty training. Anyway, my sister and I are a little on the cray cray side when we are together and this is the theme we decided to go with as a thank you card for my brother for his hospitality.

I used lots of layers (no pun in tended), used my stitched rectangles (of course) then added a few buttons with twine. Sorry the image is so dark, the paper is a little more bright than shown here.

Supplies: White and turquoise card stock, Designer paper - Karen Foster (gotta go) misc die cuts, twine.

While in Vernon we decided to look at some family history, this is a mural of Catherine O’Hare Schubert she was the first white woman to travel overland from Eastern Canada to BC. She is my great great great (I might be missing a great) gramma, there is some good solid stock in my blood.

When we arrived the mural it was surrounded by construction, they are building Schubert Gardens which I think is a condo complex. My sister does not hesitate to ask for anything and had the construction guys moving supplies, large wooden bins and taking photos like it was a fashion show.

Now on to some more wild fire photos, along with the skimmers there were a good number of helo's dropping water. This shot shows how close the fires came to homes and wineries. I think there might be some vintages with a smokey flavor in the coming years.

The smoke does make for some great photos, the sun was hiding behind a cloud and the planes flying out of the smoke was impressive.

I just though this was cool looking, I don't recall what the plant is but it always reminds me of a corn stalk minus the husks of course.

Randomness

Well looky here, card making just for muah. It has been such a busy crazy year for me with work, travel and well life and I have missed the crafty influence in my life. I just returned from a fun, family and lets not leave out fire filled vacation.

I am very very fortunate to get to spend time with my favorite sister each summer, ok you got me she is my one and only sister :). We visit craft stores for some new treasures and try to card up a storm, even with lots of K’s under the fan belt of my little car we still managed and nice little number of them.

There large number of wild fires burning in around where I was staying in the interior, I will share a few pictures, but first.. {gasp} a card :).

You know me, I love layers and well designer paper, I guess if someone was to ask it is my style this would be it and that style was is very evident in all the cards I created this past week. I scooped this pretty paper from my sisters stash for a quickie birthday card, yes the stitched rectangles took a little trip with me. I added a little foam tape, a sentiment and finally twine. My sister has this amazing selection of crochet thread, I love love love it for cards.

Supplies: Cream and brown card stock, Designer Paper – Kaiser Kraft, Papertrey Ink – Birthday Bash, Simon Says – Stitched Rectangles, twine.

Breakfast on the lake - Peachland

Storm on the lake - Kelowna

A little close for comfort - wildfire near Osoyoos

Air Tractor 802 (I think) there were 4 of them fighting the fires (yes plural) and there were right outside our window for days on end.

Seriously.. get out of the way - ding dong boaters.

Sister fun

...more to come thanks for visiting,

Bun in the Oven

Babies, Babies and more babies :), my husband is determined to be the first one to provide babies first stuffie when one of his co-workers have a new member of the family on the way.

To date there are a number of young children who are still dragging around said stuffie with them as thier favorite. This was the card I created to go along with the latest baby adventure.

I have to admit I hunted far and wide in my craft room for a DP that acutally inspired me. I figured this one was bright and neutral enough for the task. I am still not convinced I like how dark in colour the stove turn out.
I used my square stitched die cuts for all the panels. I heat embossed and fussy cut out two little stoves, I colored them and then took the center panel out of one and replaced it with a piece of clear plastic. The two layers have foam tape between them to give it a 3D look. I added some gems for the stove knobs and added some twine. The sentiment is heat embossed.

Supplies: White and brown card stock, Designer Paper - Crate Paper, Lawn Fawn - , twine, gems,
