Fiat-tastic

Happy Halloween J, my son is out on his own so I don’t do the big decorate around the front entryway like I use to but we do have a little pumpkin display in preparation for the little treaters. It has been a wet blustery week on the island but I hope it clears up for all the little ghouls and goblins tonight..

A new car deserves a little Congrats don’tcha think. I crafted this little darling last night while I was hidden away from the kitchen, pumpkin carving and urm cursing.  You would think I asked my husband to re-roof the house when the carving was designated as his task J ahh fun times. It is not as bad as I made it sound..really.

Anyway, I started with a printed out clipart of the Fiat and the little trademark. I did some layers in behind, I love this little sketch I made up and I might use it again. I added a couple of gems to the headlights but left the image relatively untouched. I added in the sentiment and popped up the Fiat symbol as if it were a button. I finished with a popped up balloon.

Supplies: White and black cardstock, Designer Paper –Say Cheese, The Alley Way Stamps – Jibber Jabber, Paper Smooches-Balloons, misc clipart gems, twine.

I finished with the sentiment and some sequins.

Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge #131

Just another Manic Monday, yup I have that floating around in my brain right now. I am sure it will stay there until something distracts me or another catchy tune takes it place.

We have a new Merry MondayChristmas Card Challenge for you. This week Lori is challenging us to Use non-traditional Christmas colours on your card.

After making Christmas cards every week for the past couple of years I am not sure there are any non-traditional colours for Christmas anymore.  Ornaments and other decoration come in a stunning array of shades and sparkle,  I am not saying I am going to run out and buy a supply or all purple or yellow decorations but someone will. So anyway, I chose to work this pretty DP that if I had to label some of the colours egg shell blue, mustard and brown.

I started with a heat embossed sentiment and framed it a couple of times and popped it up with foam tape, I staggered the punched edges so the brown would break up the back ground a little then added some stars to finished, the top stars are heat embossed with clear powder to give them a glossy look.

Supplies: Cream and brown card stock, Designer Paper – XX, Verve - , Memory Box die cut, misc punch.

Be sure to stop by the Merry Monday blog and gush over all the fabulous cards the Design team created, comments are always welcome.

Color Throwdown #314

I have a quick card this afternoon, I was able to craft in between all my chores. I am trying a new to me challenge, Color Throwdown. The challenge is to use red, pale pink and pale yellow.

I won a little prize basket a week or so ago and I have not had a chance to play with the contents yet.  These colors seem to be perfect for my new crafty items.

I decide CAS is the best bet, cute little butterflies and simple sentiments.

I have a ton of commenting to catch up, but I am going to save that for after my chores J.

Supplies: White card stock,  Designer Paper and sentiments – My Mind’s Eye, Memory Box die cut, gems.

The Journey

A few times a year there is a used stamp sale here,  what better to do on a Saturday morning then find some crafty items on sale. I put restrictions on myself though, I had to be able to envision a card with each item I brought. An empty change pouch later.. (don’t let the word change trick you into believing limited funds because a lot of loonies and toonies can fit in a tiny purse J).

Anyway, I think I did pretty well with my treasures. I have also talked myself into leaving my purchases on my desk until I have used them at least once before putting them away.

With that said, it is a perfect day to make some cards and this is the first one with my new acquisitions. There were some items that caught my attention a little more than others so I pulled out The Journey by Tim Holtz for a masculine card.

I used lots of layers, all off center at different degrees. I popped up the clock face with foam tape and finished with some enamel dots. The picture is a little dark with it being taken outdoors but you get the idea.

Supplies: Natural white and black card stock, Designer Paper – Teresa Collins, Tim Holtz – The Journey, enamel dots.

I am pretty sure I have a sentiment stamp with Silent Night on it but I could not find it.. believe me I tried. So I went with a monochromatic look, I heat embossed the image and layered it. The Challenge #16

It looks like another stunning day out my window. I spent a good number of hrs out in the yard again yesterday, mostly trying to take down a plum tree with a saw the size of my foot.. there is a lot to be said about having the right tools for the job. I mean the saw was in a kit I gave to my son when he was knee high to a grasshopper.. you know tools like big boys... not so much at least not for evil plum trees.

I am pretty stubborn though and I will finish working away at the stump like a crazy beaver today. I have no idea what I am going to do with the pile of debris the size of my car though. To add to the excitement, this is my husband's favorite tree (I have no idea why) and I need to get rid of the evidence before he come back from his hunting trip.

I received a nice surprise yesterday with a call from one of the craft stores we stopped in up island. Crafty Capers was having an anniversary on World Cardmaking day and they were going to draw for few baskets of goodies. Both my sister and I won.. what are the odds of that happening :) So we plan to make a card with our new little treasures today.

This is a card for The Challenge over at Always Playing with Paper. I went with a masculine card, I will need a few of them in the coming months.

I used lots of layers, a little twine, toss in star or three and finish with enamel dots and foam tape :).

Supplies: White and black card stock, Designer Paper - Teresa Collins, Papertrey Ink - Birthday Bash, misc die cuts, twine, dots.

Fusion - Sunflowers

A quick second post this morning before I head out to the garden to finish off prepping winter. I used the current Fusion challenge as my inspiration.

I did not manage a sunflower but I do have some pretty yellow flowers to work with. I covered the sketch though so I am happy. I used lots of layers, I heat embossed the sentiment and popped it up with foam tape and finished with some polymer dots.

Supplies: White and black card stock, Designer Paper – Fancy Pants, Jillibean Soup – Birthday, dots.

Merry Monday Christmas Challenge #129

Good morning and welcome to a new Merry Monday Christmas Challenge. This week Kristie is challenging us to Use neon colours on your Christmas card.

I have to admit that this challenge was definitely a challenge for me. The papers I used come as close to what I can do for neon in my house. I figure that they are bright maybe even vibrant and just a little fun :).

And the layers, I truly don't know how I ended up with so many but it worked out.  The sequins which are pretty darn close to neon green are covering up a few little... mistakes :). When I pulled these sequins out some of the tiny center came with them so I added them as well.

Supplies: White card stock, Designer Paper –Carta Bella , misc tree stamp,  Inspired by Stamping - die cut, sequins.

The Friday Mashup #180

I found some fun new supplies on our travels up and down the island yesterday and I am so excited to create something with them.

This card was created using the current The Friday Mashup as my inspiration. I have to admit I am loving this marble technique, It work fabulously on my masculine card.

I used a page from a brand new 6x6 paper pad (my sister saw my pad stash and said 'I did not know the made this many'… hummm that may have confirmed my craft supplies hoarder status). I used my Tuxedo black Memento re-inker for the marble roll. I pulled out my gear die cuts and added some of my new fussy twine and then heat embossed the sentiment and popped it up with foam tape.

Supplies: Cream and black card stock, Designer Paper – Authentique, Stampendous – Happy Birthday, Memory Box and MTF dies, twine.

Seize the Birthday - Banners and/or pennants

Happy World Card Making Day, I actually made this card last evening. My sister is visiting and we got to get inky in the very same room. Today we are off to visit a number of scrapbook stores up and down the island.

I know we will get home and want to create something with all our newly acquired supplies when we are back home.

I made a simple card for the current Seize the Birthday challenge, it is pretty much anything goes as long as it is Birthday, there is a topping option though and for this challenge it is banners and/or pennants.

Basic layers, and I stamped the sentiment and cut it out with a die cut. I used meandering twine across the top with flowers doing an sort of banner. I added some gems to the flowers as a finishing point.

Supplies: White and blue card stock, Designer Paper - Teresa Collins, Papertrey Ink-Birthday Bash, Memory Box and MTF die cuts, twine, gems.
