Playing in Paradise #82

Morning all, a quick post this morning for the new Playing in Paradise challenge. Allison has a wonderful sketch for us this week.

The germs got me, my husbands cold has officially moved on to me.  Right in time for the long weekend... nice. Lucky for me I made this card a little earlier in the week,  I am drooling and sneezing all over everything, my keyboard will never be the same.

I used a 6x6 paper pad from a recent Scrapbooker's Paradise purchase. I stamped the image with Stazon then colored it with my Derwent watercolor pencils. I finished with a couple of buttons made with circle punches.

Supplies: Natural white and navy cardstock, Designer Paper-We R Memory Keepers, Unity Stamps-It's all Good, Spellbinders die cuts, circle punches.

The Playing in Paradise challenge team has created some fabulous samples for inspiration, please stop by and take a peak, comments are always welcome.
**Reminder** join in the fun.... there are great prizes each and every week.

Itsy Bitsy spider

I am not a fan of the creepy crawls of the world,  but it does not stop my brain from singing a little verse of Itsy Bitsy spider when I see one scurry across my floor. I found this paper last year after Chrismas and hid it away for this years Halloween.

I think the sketch from the current Clean and Simple stamping is perfect for this card.

The spiders are all velvety, funny how I love the paper and pet the little leggy insects but would not dare with a real one. The web is from a Memory Box die cut that I sprayed with Goosebumps. The rest is simple layers. I love the sentiment.

I was going to roll back the corner under the web but I got carried away with the glue :).

Supplies: Natural Ivory and black cardstock, Designer Paper-My Mind's Eye, There SheGoes Stamps-Halloween Additions, Memory Box- Creepy Web.

Nina

Silver Anniversary

Another silver anniversary card....

I made this one so that the numbers could be popped off without much effort so that it can be used for any anniversary.
I apologize for the so so picture, I took it at work with a new camera and I was playing with the settings.
I used a natural white card base and added a layer of black and another layer of natural white for the second set of layers. For third set  I used a layer of black and then silver. I added texture to layer sets 2 and 3.
The silver paper is actually multi-toned that I found at Michaels, unfortunately it is really hard to see the pattern :(. I heat embossed the numbers and added some sparkle with my Clear Star gel pen.  I used a Sizzix die cut for the flourish. The sentiment is printed from the computer and layered.
I finished with some black twine that has some sparkle in it and gems.
Supplies: Natural white and black cardstock, Designer Paper - Recollections, The Stamps of Life - numbers4cake, Sizzix die cut, embossing folders, spellbinders, twine, gems.
So far no cold, it must have been all the wonderful comments :).

Merry Monday #30

A short post this morning for this week Merry Monday challenge, my house is full of sick men and I fear those germs are reaching out for me. I have managed to avoid, flu and colds for the past year but I think my time is up..

What a fabulous sketch Lesley has for us this week. I have to admit I love that I was able to make a clean and simple card this week.

I love the vintage feel of this October Afternoon paper,  I added some texture and let the sentiment be the focal point. I finished the card with candy dots and ribbon.

Supplies: Natural Ivory and brown cardstock, Designer Paper-October Afternoon, Christmas Greetings- Inspired by Stamping, Candy Dots, ribbon, embossing folder.

Playing in Paradise #81

Happy Friday everyone, this week sort of just ran away from me. I did not get much done in the way of crafting but I did manage something simple for the new Playing in Paradise challenge.  Jessi is challenging us to think Holidays :).

This is a very clean and simple card, I wanted to get as much as this winter scene on the card as possible. The sentiment is the smallest I had that suited the almost vintage look. I finsihed with a few pearls.

Supplies: Natural Ivory and brown cardstock, Designer Paper –October Afternoon, Cornish Heritage Farms, pearls.

Merry Monday #29

Whew it has been warm here in Victoria, I am not complaining because even though summer had a slow start I think this is the warmest summer I can remember in a long time and I love it.

We have a new Merry Monday Challenge to share with you today. I am still working through my pile of scraps :)

I love this sketch and my card came together so easily. I will miss this paper when it is all gone, I am sure that My Mind's Eye will come out with something equally inticing for the new season.

I added some texture to the background then heat embossed the sentiment with Red Tinsel embossing powder and popped it up with foam tape. I finished with some ribbon and brown candy dots.
Supplies: Natural Ivory and brown cardstock, Designer Paper-My Mind's Eye, Fiskars-Season's Greetings, misc twine.

Playing in Paradise #80

It is time for a new challenge for Playing in Paradise , I am your hostess this week. If you follow my blog on a regular basic you know that I like earth tones colours  - creams, browns and such. I am more comfortable with masculine cards than girly. Maybe it is because I was a tomboy growing up and my roots are those of a small town girl.

This week I chose a Back to Nature theme for the challenge, this picture makes me want to take a walk, or a hike, maybe even do a little fishing. Some of my fondest memories are fishing with my parents in a creek in the middle of nowhere.

I love 6x6 paper pads, never mind that I own tons of them they are the first thing I look for when I look at craft supplies.  I love these Designer Papers from Kaiser Craft, when I saw this pad online at Scrapbooker's Paradise it was a must have.

Can you hear the forest and nature sounds..? I created a simple card with panels, the stamps are from Flourishes (check the Scrapbooker's Paradise online store, they do carry a selection from this stamp company).

Supplies: Kraft and brown cardstock, Designer Paper-Canvas Corp, Flourishes.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #159

Today's post will be short and sweet, I put on a new audiobook and settled into my craft space for a little creative time last evening.

I struggled a little with this sketch, I was not sure what elements to use where. I finally worked around this pretty image from the Serene Silhouette Stampin' Up! set. I wanted to see how my watercolour pearlescents would work on a light background.

I added lots of texture to the backgound and the small brown strip. I heat embossed the sentiment then added small punched flower pieces in parts of the white space. I dug deep into my supplies for these flowers and added a little twine and some pearls.

Supplies: Cream and brown cardstock, Designer Paper-Pink Paisle, Inspired by Stamping-The Sky's the Limit, Stampin' Up Serene Silhouette, Spellbinders Die Cuts, Prima Flowers, twine and pearls.

I am fitting a quick post in before I get ready to head to work. I almost forget this card I made for this weeks The Friday Mashup Challenge.

  2. Or Make a project with " Some Bling ".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a " Black N' White Project with some Bling! "
I apologize that the photo is a little dark.

I added texture to the background then layered the side panel. The 25 was cut with my Cricut and popped up with foam tape before being matted on circles. I  finished with a beautiful gray shimmer ribbon and a charm, I also added gems to the upper corner and to the sentiment.

Supplies: Natural White and black cardstock, Designer Paper - Momenta, Close to my Heart - Filigree Charms, Spellbinders die cuts, misc ribbon, gems, misc punches.

Playing in Paradise #79

Is it me or is summer zooming on by way to fast, I noticed that it was not quite as light when my alarm went off this morning (pouty face)...

Ahh well.. the seasons must go on :) and with that said on with the crafting season which much to my delight goes all year long. The challenge for Playing in Paradise this week is brought to us by Merle and we get to play with colour.

Usually I don't fair so well when it comes to colour challenges but I lucked out with this DP and it did all the work for me. So this card is on the simple side.

The clouds are actually cut out from the flip side of this paper, I lightly edged them with Versacolor Pinecone . The sentiment was heat embossed in brown, I finished with some twine and a button.

Supplies: Cream and brown cardstock, Designer Paper-Echo Park, Inspired by Stamping - The Sky's the Limit, misc twin and button.

Thank you

Thank you, thank you, and thanks... I had to send out a few thank you cards this week.  This one I created for my son to send out for a graduation card he received. Can't have the poor boy sending out girly cards now can I :).

I used many layers to give the card some depth, I used a button die cut added some embroidery thread and popped them up with foam tape. The sentiment is also popped up.

Supplies: Natural Ivory and brown cardstock, Designer Paper – Kaiser Craft, The Stamps of Life-labels2use, misc button punch and embroidery thread.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #158

I am so excited.. I won over at Tuesday Morning Sketches for last weeks challenge. I have never won a luck of the number draw before.. Maybe my luck is changing :).

Anyhoo, enough of my chair dancing. There is a new challenge over at Tuesday Morning Sketches, and Debbie has created a fabulous sketch.

I had so much fun with this card, but it took me forever. I had a vision ( as my trainer likes to say) and it worked. I was determined to make a pom pom from twine... wow, I have no idea where that patience came from, but in the end voila.. pompom.. out of twine.

There is lots and lot of texture on this card, and inky edges. I made the little party hat from DP, the sentiment I printed from Word. I finished with some paper star buttons.

The paper hat is two layers deep and popped up with foam tape on both layers. I also popped up the stars.
Supplies: Cream and brown cardstock, Designer Paper-My Min's Eye, There She Goes-Bits of Stardust, Spellbinders die cut, twine, misc punches, embossing folders.

iSpy Sketches #27

Its cloudy out doors and although it is perfect for weeding my garden  the bees were getting annoyed with me. So I am spending some quality time in my craft space, isn't the sketch from iSpy sketches fun this week.

I would like to say I was being a little lazy by just punching out chevrons but they put up a good battle :).  and I will be prying my glued finger apart later. The orange twine was sitting out so I figured it would work with the paper I was using.

Supplies: Natural Ivory and brown cardstock, Designer Paper –Indie Chic, Hot off the Press-Tiny words, Prima flowers, twine,  pearls, misc punches.

Nina

Merry Monday #27

Good Morning - Its time for a new Merry Monday Challenge. I found this stamp in a sale basket when I was out shopping with my sister... who can resist Riley :).

Simple layers for this card, I cut the shape out for  the center cardstock then added  the coloured image in behind. I finished with twine and  button.  I added the sentiment after  as I felt the card just did not seem finished.

Supplies: Natural Ivory and brown cardstock, Designer Paper –Ta Da Creative Studios, Riley - Santa in the Chimney, twine and button.

Stop by Always Playing with Paper to see what the  Design Team members have created, we would love for you to play along with us for Merry Monday.

Friday Mashup #70

I purchased some Prima Petal pins while on vacation and left them out for inspiration, The Friday Mashup Challenge this week is perfect.

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a project with a "Stick Pin on it."
  2. Or Make a "Vintage" project.
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Vintage project with a Stick Pin on it."

This paper looks vintage to me,  I distressed the edges of the background with ink and a sand block. The flower is a spellbinder die that I  distressed the edges and made it multi layered. I finished with some twine , pearls and the stick pin.

Supplies: Cream and brown cardstock, Designer Paper-Glitz, Inspired by Stamping-The Sky's the Limit, Prima-Petal Pins,  Pearls, Spellbinders die cuts, misc punches and twine.

Freshly Made Sketches #46

It has been wonderful to be so active in my craft room this past week, it seems like my momentum just disappeared through the spring.

I hope to visit and join in some of my favorite challenges this weekend, I am excited to have a long weekend to play with my supplies.

Isn't this paper adorable, it called for inked edges and a little distressing but I help back and tried for a relatively clean card.... I have lots of scraps though .... :).

I was determined to use this spellbinders die, but to do what I wanted I needed to flip the sketch. I layered the background, top strip and focal piece. I stamped the image and sentiment before adding gems, I finished with an embellishment and twine.

Supplies: Cream and brown cardstock, Designer Paper-Basic Grey, Stacey Stamps - Solid Wildflowers, Hot off the Press - Tiny Words, Recollection gems,  twine, Spellbinders, misc punches

Playing in Paradise #78

Happy Friday everyone, another work week comes to an end. The week felt unbelievably long, I think that was mostly because I had trouble coming out of vacation mode J. We have a new challenge for Playing in Paradise today, Angela is our hostess this week and for our inspiration she has focused on colours.

PPC78

Did I overdo it on the paisley :), the card did not look quite this wild when I made it. I used simple layers and added a little texture. I finished with a sentiment and pearls.

Supplies: Natural white and blue cardstock, Design Paper – Authentique, The Stamps of Life-standup4sentiments, embossing folders, Recollection pearls.
