Merry Monday #77

We had a wild ride with our weather this past weekend, heavy rain for most of the weekend with a nasty windstorm added in last night. It almost feels like November or December and the winter storms we often get.

It is time for a new  Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge, Lesley has posted this great image for inspiration for this weeks challenge. I love these fun bright colours.

I have this fun and colourful paper that I have been saving for a while, what are the chances that it has all the right colours !! I kept the card CAS to show off the colours and backed the designer paper with a dark green cardstock. The sentiment is stamped in black and finished with this cute pompom ribbon with a little silver in it.

Supplies: White card stock, Designer Paper - Carta Bella, Verve - Merry  & Bright, misc ribbon.

You can't miss out on the fun, head over to the Lesley's blog  and see all the Design Team creations and join in and take the challenge.

Cheers,
Nina

Soot Stamping

Anyone want to play with candles and flames? My sister in law Judy has sent a link for a new family technique challenge. For this challenge we will be trying soot stamping.

It took me a few of tries to get this right, a couple of things I learned. When you hold your glossy cardstock to far away from the flame it bubbles and only manages a  toasted marshmallow colour.

The second thing I figured out is that if you make a mistake and try it again, be sure to clean your stamp off or it will not lift a clear image the next time. Soot does not stick to soot very well.

When I  first took a look at this challenge I knew I was going to us this stamp and I love how it turned out. I originally wanted this to be a Halloween card but then I just left it looking like a vintage photo card.

Supplies: White and black card stock, Crafty Individuals - Negative Landscape.

Stop by Barb and Judy's blogs to see what projects they have created using this same technique.

Merry Monday #76

Happy Monday it is time for a new  Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge, Lesley has posted this cute image for inspiration for this weeks challenge.

I have had this stamp set from Stampendous for a while and have only used it a time or two and I wanted to try using them on a CAS card. I stamped the snowman first and fussy cut the panel out then used water colour pencils on his hat and nose. I coloured his heart with a red glitter pen and used some large glitter flakes for the snow along the bottom.
I stamped the sentiment right onto the card base and finished by adding some gems to the snowflakes that were falling.

Supplies: White card stock, Designer Paper - Echo Park, Stampendous - Heavenly Snowman, Recollection gems, large flake clear glitter.

Stop by Lesley's blog and see all the design team creations, join in the fun and take the challenge.

CAS Notecard

I accomplished something I never though I could do yesterday, I made a card in about 5 mins. I needed  a small little note card to put in with a parcel and found some scraps that I put together.

This little note card is 2inches wide and 3 inches tall

The little strip of black is from along the base of the designer paper. I would have liked a smaller sentiment but I did not have time to dig through my stamps to find what I was looking for.

Supplies: White card stock, Designer Paper - Authentique, Verve - Autumn Splendor, twine.

Cheers,
Nina

Merry Monday #75

Happy Monday it is time for a new  Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge, Lesley has posted another wonderful image for this weeks challenge inspiration.

I used my Cricut to cut out a snowflake in dark brown themn used a glue pen to scribble on it and added red and gold glitter embossing powder. I finished with a glitter dot in gold.

Supplies: Vanilla and brown card stock, Designer Paper - Echo Park, Cricut - Snowflake, Stampendous - Christmas Wishes, Gold and Red glitter embossing powder, gold glitter dot

Merry Monday #74

Good morning it is time for a new  Merry Monday Challenge, Lesley has posted another beautiful image for this weeks challenge inspiration. The challenge is the use the colours green and white with woodgrain.

In my stash I have this wonderful 6 x 6 paper pad and I found a scrap of wood grain paper that was just big enough for this little tree. I started my card by using my die cut to punch out a tree in the top layer of white cardstock, which I backed with a layer of green cardstock.

I then used that same die to cut out a tree from DP, I added some foam tape to the back to pop it up. I heat embossed the sentiment using green ink and clear embossing powder then finished with some red gems.

Supplies: White and green cardstock, Designer Paper-Fancy Pants Designs, Verve-Bright Spirits and Winter Fun, Recollections gems.

Stop by Always Playing with Paper to see what the Merry Makers have created for this week. We would love for you to play along with us for Merry Monday this week.

Cheers,
Nina

Stunning Sage

I have had this beautiful sage DP in my supplies for a few years and it caught my eye as I was aimlessly searching ( I love it when that happens). The pretty flowers or greens are all outline with gold embossing.

I stamped the sentiment in green and then backed  with some cardstock and popped up with foam tape. I added some texture to a strip of cardstock as a background for the twine and button.

The button is very pretty with a mix of metalic green and gold and has a worn look.

Supplies: Cream and sage cardstock, Designer Paper - Kanban Crafts, Inkadinkado - Happy Anniversary, twine, button.

Cheers,
Nina

Musical Sepia

Once in a while I get requests from friends and co-workers  for a custom card, in cases such as this one where there is a photo I usually don’t post a picture of the card out of respect for the person in the photo. My sister worked magic for me yesterday to blur her face a little so I could blog the card.

I used Picasa to alter the image  to sepia and added a couple of effects to the image,  I backed it with brown and cream cardstock. I added some glittery brown twine and created a button to hide the ends of the flags. I finished with some brads.

Supplies: Cream and brown cardstock, Stampendous-Music Score, circle punches, twine and pearls.
Cheers,
Nina

Cheshire Branch

I love Memory Box die cuts and I found a nice stack of new ones this summer when I was shopping with my sister. I could not wait to play with them and this was one of the first cards I put together but it has been sitting on my desk waiting for me to add a sentiment or something.

Then a friend asked of I had a card without  a sentiment... karma perhaps. She loved it, voila... card finished :).

I used a thinner shiney brown card stock that has this beautiful shimmer when held in the light right, I added it to a textured cream cardstock to a brown cardstock layer.

Supplies: Cream and brown cardstock, Memory Box - Cheshire Branch Outline.

Cheers,
Nina

Merry Monday #73

Merry Monday has changed a little, and is now Merry Monday Christmas Card Club, there are some changes to the challenge so be sure to check them out.  Lesley has posted a stunning inspiration image for this weeks challenge.

I wish my card photo was as vibrant as the one above but my camera and I are not on that good of terms :).
The base of my card is Kraft card stock, I used DP that is red and green and added a piece of burlap ribbon at the base of my tree. My sentiment was also stamped on Kraft and I even added a little texture to my brown panel behind the tree.

Supplies: Kraft and brown card stock, Designer Paper - My Mind's Eye, Dee's Distinctively - Stacker Tree, JustRite - Christmas Inner Thoughts, burlap, embossing folder.

You can't miss out on the fun, head over to the Lesley's blog  and see all the fabulous Design Team creations and join in and take the challenge.
