Christmas Love

Ohh soo close J, Christmas is only 2 sleeps away.

You would think I would be tired of making Christmas card but nope. This is a bit of a sappy card, after all Love is the greatest gift of all.

I used a simple layout, I printed the sentiment from Word then used a die to cut it out and popped it up with foam tape and added some ribbon. To cover the seam between the DP layers I twirled the same silver ribbon into a thin rope and glued it in place. I used a die to cut out the hearts and they are also popped up with foam tape. I then used to foam tape to pop up the layers off the card base.

Supplies: Natural White, Silver and red card stock, Designer Paper –Bazzill Basic, Simon Say-Die Cut, Inspired by Stamping Die Cut, ribbon.

Nina

Masculine Sympathy

A quick card for today, I have not been able to craft much this week. Work has been crazy and by the time I get home my brain is pretty much fried, does not do well for creativity.

It is always sad when I need to make a Sympathy card, for this one I went with a masculine theme. I also made it a little larger in size so that it can be signed by a number of people in a office.

I inked the edges of the center panel with a number of distress inks then stamped the tree in black, I did the same with sentiment. I popped both panels up with foam tape themnfinished with some twine and a button.

Supplies: Cream and brown card stock, Designer Paper - Unknowns, Stamps - Technique Tuesday, twine, button.

Nina

Holy smokes we only have a short time till Christmas... are you ready??

We have a new Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge, and Lesley's has an adorable inspiration image for us today.

Isn't this little guy cute, he is all glittery as I used my clear star glitter pen to add sparkle. I fussy cut the scarf from DP and used a water colour pencil for the sled and popped it up over the hills. I heat embossed the sentiment and popped it up with foam tape. I finished with some twine.

Supplies: Natural white and red card stock, Designer Paper-Bazzill Basics, Lawn Fawn-Winter Bunny stamp and die cut, twine.

Sending Holiday Shears

I had such fun making this card, I needed something unique for my hairdresser.

I started with a Silhouette cut file for the shears that was designed by my sister Barb, I used embossing powder to add silver and glittery red for the blades and handles. I printed the sentiment from Microsoft Word.

Supplies: White and red card stock, Designer Paper - Echo Park, Shears - Barbara Derksen Font - Mufferaw, mini brads.

Cheers,
Nina

CAS Christmas

I cased my own card for a CAS quick card, I had the scraps hanging around so it made sense.

I used simple layers and this pretty DP, unfortunately the scraps did not have any of the gold foil on it but I was still happy with the card. I used a different sentiment and added gold pearls rather than brown.

You can see the original HERE.

Supplies: Cream and brown card stock, Designer Paper - Recollections, Verve - Peace on Earth,  twine, pearls.

Cheers,
Nina

Christmas Card Challenge #3

It felt wonderful to get crafty today, and I found a new challenge to boot. The challenge is

Christmas Card Challenge #3  and the challenge is to Make words the Focal Point.
I have enough Christmas cards but I am still feeling in the festive mood, so I created a Santa Clause like card. I used simple layers then added a couple of eyelets, I used the sentiment for the belt buckle.

Supplies: Natural white, silver and black cardstock, Designer Paper - Echo Park, Momenta - Santa Claus, eyelets.

We were in Vegas this past week for vacation, although it was sunny it was chilly and freezing temps for extended time. It was definitely different to see water on attractions like this one with icicles.

Merry Monday #87

Happy Monday, it is time for a new Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge, and Lesley's has a fun image for inspiration today.

I am happy to admit that all my Christmas cards are done, ahh the perks of challenge that has you making holiday cards throughout the year.

I love this card, the mittens are so cute and I smiled the whole time I was putting it all together. I grew up in a small town in BC, we had great winters that had more outdoor activities than indoor. I guess that is because we had 2 TV channels and a good snow usually knocked out the connection high in the mountains and it could be a good stretch before it was repaired.

An average weekend day I would go through a number of gloves
and mitten changes and my boots and snowpants would be soaked at the end of a day of play and I would always have those cold chapped cheeks. Anyhow...

I created the background layers and then heat embossed the mittens and fussy cut them out, I added some cream twine and popped them up with foam tape. I heat embossed both the buttons and sentiment too.

Supplies: Kraft and brown cardstock, Designer Paper -Kiaser Craft , Verve - Winter Mittens, circle punch, twine.

Supplies: Natural white and black card stock, Designer Paper-Echo Park, Woodware - Heartfelt Christmas Wish, twine, gems, embossing powder.

Merry Monday #85

We have a new  Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge, and Lesley's has another fabulous image for inspiration today.

I have never created a white on white card before, I actually try to stay away from white card stock all together truth be told.  Nothing white ever stays white around me...ever. Surprise surprise I managed to keep this card clean... probably because I did not go anywhere near an ink pad.

I used an embossing folder to create some snowy background texture. I then used a number of die cuts for hills, the buck and snowflakes. I used my SCAL software with my Cricut for the sentiment and I popped up the snowflakes, sentiment and one tree with foam tape. I finished with some gems on the snowflakes.

Supplies: White card stock, Cricut, SCAL software, Memory Box die cuts, Papertrey die cut, gems.

Ok, I know I don't usually say a whole lot in my blog posts. This week has been a series of short and sweet posts and this evening is no different. Tonight my card is for the new Seize the Birthday challenge.

Be sure to take a peek at the blog because they have some extra special news to share. Congratulations Jenny.

I was so determined to make this pretty pink paper work, just look at it all girly and such :) I am so not girly. I admit I struggle with the feminine cards, but I am happy with the end results.

I heat embossed the sentiment and it is popped up with foam tape, I inked the edges of the designer paper and used lots of layers. I even added a little texture to the brown strip.  I just had to work the sentiment on the DP into the card and I finished with a couple of sets of deep brown sequins.

Supplies: Cream and brown card stock, Designer Paper - Glitz, Papertrey Ink - Birthday Bash Sentiments, sequins.

Cheers,

Seize the Birthday and Tuesday Morning Sketches #224

My card is for two different challenges, the first being Seize the Birthday where I needed to use texture. Usually I will pull out one of my many.. many embossing folders but today reached for a paper pack I brought this summer and had not used yet.

The paper is so nice it has raised elements,  embossed bits, glittered bits and over all fun with all the texture.

The second challenge is the current Tuesday Morning Sketches, this layout worked great for this card.

I heat embossed the lighthouse in blue twice and fussy cut out parts and popped them up for 3D detail. I used foam tape for the anchor, the compass and the little boat as well.  I added a heat embossed sentiment and some twine. I even added a little yellow glitter pen to the windows.

Isn't this stamp set the cutest, I received it in the mail just last week and I had such fun playing with it.

We are having another family challenge and I have asked the ladies to create something and to use paper piecing, I think it is a technique we have already tried but it is one of my favorites.

This is the video I used to inspire Barb and Judy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tw9MZ5kvPFk

Sketch041.jpg

I have had this chipboard laser cut embellishment for a while and I though it would be a great addition to a card for one of my best friends birthday. Love the paper and the rest of the card but the jury is still out on the bicycle.
