Baby Congrats

I did a whole batch of congratulation baby cards last fall. They are never my favorite to make and I have not idea why but I love how they all turned out.

This time though I pulled out a small stack of my cute baby papers and dove right in. They all have simple layered layouts and this one is no exception. I added a layer of black cardstock to the each panel, the sentiment is simply stamped and the sentiment panel popped up with foam tape.

I finished the card with Nuvo drops.

Birthday Wishes

Shades of brown for a masculine Birthday card.

I love to create masculine cards, they are easy for me. This is probably because the men in my life like basic colours and patterns and the card also has a simple layouts.

I added a layer of dark brown cardstock each of the panels. The plain panel had a foam tape in behind to pop it up.

I heat embossed the sentiment in white on the same brown cardstock then added a layer of white cardstock and foam tape in behind. The final touch was some Nuvo drops,

Keeping Christmas - January 2020

Hi all, welcome to the first Keeping Christmas blog hop of 2020.

I love how this card turned out, all that gold embossing makes me happy. I love heat embossing, but sometimes it just does not like me, this time it worked perfectly.

I had a jar of brand new Gina K Design Fine Detail gold and I just jumped in. I added the sentiment first.

Next, I then taped off the edges of the panel, covering the stitching. I used the background stamp with my Misti. I then stamped the buck scene on another piece of cardstock and fussy cut it out once it was cooled. I added foam tape to the back before using it to hold in place some fine gold filament twine.

I finished the card by popping up the full panel and adding some gold sequins.

Supplies: Brown and kraft cardstock, DRS Designs – Merry Christmas, Penny Black – Script, Stampendous-Buck Scene, sequins, gold twine.

Be sure to stop by everyone’s stop on the hop; there is some fabulous inspiration.

Time to Celebrate

It is a Time to Celebrate, the Chinese New Year is tomorrow and I wanted to create a card for a co-worker.

I am sure there would be a few hands raised if this question was asked in a room full of crafters, so do you have any supplies that have been in your stash forever just waiting to be used... uh huh.

That is the case with my small stash of rice papers and the fake coin I used. Seriously I have had them for well over 10 years. This was a perfect time for me to pull them out and use them.

This card is smaller, 3 x 4 ish, there is not a lot of measuring that happens when I am crafting :(. I used my stitched rectangle to die cut a panel I then cut a piece of rice
paper to fit just inside the stitched area of the panel. I used a spray adhesive to get good covers, runners or liquid glue tear the paper or make it mushy. I used a brayer to
make sure there were no bubbles.

I used the stitched rectangles to add stitching to the edge of a strip of black cardstock then I also added a slice of rice paper to that. I heat embossed the sentiment tin gold then popped it up with foam tape. I used twine and some foam tape to adhere to the coin then finished the card with a couple of black gems.

Supplies: White and black cardstock, Patterned Rice Paper,  Clearly Besotted - Many Mini Messages, Simon Says Stamp - Stitched Rectangles, twine, gems, coin embellishment.

Beautiful

This is another smaller gift card sized card. I had the panels already cut in an envelope so unfortunately, I do not know the manufacturer. It was from a 6x6 paper pad.

I layered the panels and added some foam tape to the top panel. I finished the card with some twine and a couple of sequins stacked together.

Supplies: White and grey cardstock, Designer Paper - Unknown, sequins, twine/

You Rock

I wanted this masculine card to be simple in design and the designer paper made that easy. unfortunately, I don't remember where I found the paper or recall the manufacturer.

I created a quick panel using a stitched rectangle die then added a layer of black cardstock, the sentiment is embossed in white on black cardstock and popped up with foam tape. I finished with black half pearls.

Supplies: White and black cardstock, Designer Paper - unknown, Simon Says Stamp - Simple Sentiments, black half pearls.

Holiday Season - Warm Thoughts

Merry Monday all, I have another festive card for the start of the week.

Lots of layers for this card and I like the simple layout, even with the many layers. The main panel is black and green cardstock, I then layered up from there. I love the blend of plaid.

I stamped the sentiment then added a layer of black cardstock before popping it up with foam tape.

I finished with some sequins and gems.

This card is easy to replicate to make multiples.

Supplies: White, black and green cardstock, Designer paper - Unknown, Penny Black-Joyful Wishes, sequins and clear gems.

You mocha me happy

I have been scheduling all my posts this month trying to hit each day, somehow I missed yesterday so today I will play a little catchup with two posts.

This is a quick post, the card is small :) 2 x 3.2 inches.

Before the holidays we had a holiday market at work, I did not think I had many cards in my stash and if I prepped a table I wanted to have a good selection. We have a company here in town that had a fabulous selection of sleeves, envelopes and card blanks, so I am well outfitted.

So with that in mind, I made some quick little cards that would fit a gift card perfectly.

What I don't get is why the littles take just as long to create as what I consider the standard-sized card (A2). I have a few of these to post over the next little while.

Supplies: White and brown cardstock, Designer Paper - Your Next Stamp, Altenew - Coffee Talk.

Freshly Made Sketches #418

Good Morning all, it felt wonderful to get some crafty time yesterday. My sister Barb and I crafted together long-distance texting all the while.

We decided to play along with the current Freshly Made Sketches.

I needed a masculine retirement card, and I love how this turned out. I pulled out a set of stitched borders to make my top panel, I then added foam tape to pop it up.

I added a piece of DP from the same paper pad as my smaller side panel and added a layer of brown cardstock for a small border. The sentiment is stamped and matted then popped up with foam tape, I added a small frame under the sentiment for interest then  I finished the card with some Nuvo drops.

Supplies: Kraft and brown cardstock, Designer Paper Kaisercraft, Lawn Fawn - Stitched Inside borders, Simon Says Stamp - Quad Rectangle frame, Open Studio - Wishing You sentiments, Nuvo drops.

I love this paper, it was so easy to put together this card. I used one of my favourite sketches as well.

I used stitched rectangles for the dark grey panels then cut the designer paper to fit. The top panel is popped up with foam tape so that the ribbon fit under nicely. The sentiment is heat embossed in white and finished with some clear dew drops.

#happy

Hashtag happy... go for it I say.

Apparently, November and December were all about the clean and simple cards for me. This designer paper pad is one of those I pulled from the depths of my stash. I love the glossy pattern from the main panel which I cut using a stitched rectangle.

I added a layer of coordinating designer paper then a layer of black cardstock. I did the same with the sentiment panel and popped it up with foam tape. I finished by adding a few half pearls.

Supplies: White and black cardstock, Designer Paper - Kaisercraft, half pearls.

Happy here, happy there, happy everywhere...

I have a clean and very simple card today. The main panel is die cut using stitched rectangles and  I once again took advantage of designer paper with a sentiment panel. Little Boys

I use this layout for my card quite a bit, I think it is one of my go-to sketches. I love the layers and the panels let me showcase different paper patterns.

I used stitched rectangles and squares to cut out the designer paper panels then added a brown cardstock background to frame each panel.

The sentiment is simply stamped in brown then popped up with foam tape, I finished with some brown Nuvo drops.

Another Monday and another reason for a Merry card. I love this card, it has lots of layers which is always my favourite.

Awesome

I had fun with this masculine card. This paper already had a grunge look to it but I added to that by using white and black watercolour and splattering it on.

The panels are die cut using rectangular and square stitched die cuts. I added a layer of black stock in behind.

I stamped the large sentiment is stamped in black and popped up with foam tape and the small sentiment is heat embossed in white on black cardstock. I finished with Nuvo drops.

I found this paper, two sheets the other with an electric guitar but I don't recall the company.

Smile Everyday

Today is a good day to smile.

My card today was created from a 12x12 designer paper page and surprise no stamping insight. I used my stitched rectangles stacked to create two panels, one from the middle of the other.

This created an outer frame that I popped up with foam tape. To the center panel, I added the sentiment panel, which has foam tape to match the level of the frame. I added a smaller panel in the lower section and a thin strip of patterned paper above it. I finished with some white gems.

Supplies: White cardstock, Designer Paper - Kaisercraft, gems.

Have a fabulous day,
Nina

Birthday climb

It's my son's birthday today so this card is for him.

He had been climbing for a while now, the mom in me hopes he never tries the climb on the card but I liked the image.

I made the frame below to go with it. I have a series of images from his first outdoor rock climb to add.

The card is very quick and simple to put together. I took a free vector image from the interwebs and adjusted it to grey in Picasa then added some artistic effects and an edge before printing it out. I then added a layer fo black cardstock and mounted it on a card base.

I heat embossed the sentiment in white on black then popped it up with foam tape. I finished with Nuvo drops.

Supplies: White and black cardstock, Clearly Besotted - Miniature Type, Silhouette image - Free Pik, Nuvo drops.

The frame is a wood board from Walmart that I cut in half, I added gesso then some acrylic paint. I tied a few mixed medium options before taking it all off and just using paint and a couple small add-in (die cuts and small gravel). I am using small clips to hold the photos, I used screws to attach them.

Happy Friday,
Nina

Congratulations

Welcome baby cards always seem to be a theme that I never have in my stash of cards. I made a batch last year and this is one of them.

For this card, I used a simple layout of layers. Each panel is backed by brown cardstock to add a thin frame. I die cut each designer paper panel with stitched rectangles to give some extra detail.

The top panel and sentiment are both popped up with foam tape and I finished the card with brown Nuvo drops.

Supplies: White and brown cardstock, Designer Paper - Echo Park, Simon Says Stamp - Stitched rectangles, Nuvo drops.

A day without coffee..

A one-week crafty post stretch, high five ;). We are back to the love of coffee. I have a nice inventory of coffee and tea sentiments and like move of the other stamp sets I probably brought each set for one sentiment then don't take advantage of the rest. I hope to change that this year, dig through my stash and use what I have.

This card was pretty easy to put together when the paper does most of the work then the sentiment finishes it off it makes for a perfect clean and simple card. I added a layer of dark brown cardstock to the main layer, the designer paper layer having love of my stitched rectangles. I heat embossed the sentiment in white then popped the panel up with foam tape and finished the card with some Nuvo drops.

Supplies: White and brown cardstock, Designer Paper - Unity, ASDASD, Nuvo drops.

Happy caffination,

Nina
