Next Year

It is Washi Tape Wednesday, crafty friends. Does this card layout look like it is on repeat? It probably is, but I am ok with that.

I started with a piece of white cardstock and layered some washi tape; I then added a layer of black cardstock to add a frame. Not only am I obsessed with Washi tape, but the Paper Rose Track circle die as well.

I die-cut the circle frame from black cardstock, ran it through a second time with white cardstock, stamped the sentiment in the middle, and popped it up with foam tape. I die-cut a gold butterfly to match the hints of gold in the washi tape.

Supplies: White and black cardstock, Washi Tape, Penny Black - Birthday Humor, Poppy Stamps - Rhone Butterfly wings.

This part of my post is long, long, long overdue; it is a callout to a fellow crafty friend on the Island here. Her story is touching, her creations are stunning, her goal is admirable, and she is inspirational.

Sleigh Ride

Merry Monday, crafty peeps - do you ever feel cheated on a card. I do this when I make a card that is a simple design. There are so many tools for crafting that make it easy to be creative, but in the end, if someone is creative and has created something handmade, does it really matter how easy or simple the design is? I don't think so, big or small; the effort matters; the thought counts.

I am not the first to have this thought process; Ardyth and Justine collaborated on this discussion on Youtube. I have not linked the specific video as there is so much great content besides those videos.

So... my design is simple, with lots of layers but simple. I used three different patterned papers and ran them through my Big shot with rectangle dies, each layer a little smaller than the one before it.

I used a different die cut and cut a piece of vellum larger than the ephemera. I finished the card with another piece of ephemera.

Supplies: White cardstock, Designer Paper - Echo Park & vellum.

Did you know: For every real Christmas tree harvested, farms plant 2 to 3 seedlings in its place.

Rule the World

Washi Tape Wednesday crafty friends - I had fun with wine-themed washi for my card today.

I don't know what it is about bout Washi tape that has me obsessed right now, the ability to make my own pattern, the ease of use - I can pull it back up and adjust it, or that is fun little rolls of creativity.

No matter; I had fun with this card. I have mastered cutting washi tape with my trimmer to get the desired width.  I created the pattern with 5 different tapes, then repeated the pattern.

I stamped the sentiment and layered it with black cardstock and foam tape. I added a layer of black cardstock to the panel and finished with some clear gems.

Supplies: White and black cardstock, Picket Fence - Just wanna have wine, washi tape, gems.

Feeling Frosty

Merry Monday crafty fiends - the card for this post is a very simple layout. I started with a piece of designer paper then added a coordinating strip.

I then used one of the coordinating panels that is layered with some foam tape. I used a silver dot I found on my craft table in the center of the snowflake.

Supplies: White cardstock, Designer paper - Photoplay.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to any dads that may stumble across my blog. I love the retro look my card has for today's post.

I started with a piece of patterned paper and added a black cardstock layer. I die-cut the motorcycle from black cardstock, then used the scraps left over from the panel to die-cut circles and the fun frame.

I stamped the sentiment, then used scissors to rough cut the edges; I finished the card with some Nuvo drops.

Supplies: White and black cardstock, Designer Paper - Paper Rose, Clearly Besotted - Miniature Type, La-La-Land Motorcycle, Paper Rose - Track Cycle Frame Die, Nuvo Drops.

Did you know: The first Father’s Day was celebrated in 1910.

Wonderful Birthday

The layout for today's card is simple by design. I started by adding texture to a white panel and then adhering it to a light green base panel.

I cut a piece of designer paper and added a layer of green cardstock and foam tape. I stamped and layered the sentiment. I did not add any additional embellishments as I thought the gold in the patterned paper was enough.

Supplies: White and green cardstock, Designer Paper, Penny Black - carefree wishes, embossing folder.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #711 - Pawsitivity is Key

Washi Tape Wednesday, crafty peeps, I had so much fun making this card. I am playing along with the current sketch over at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

I started with a piece of designer paper that is wood grain with silver inlay. I adhered the panel to a layer of black cardstock to create a mat.

I die-cut three hearts, then heat-embossed paw prints on them; I added some twine and popped the hearts up with foam tape.

I added a strip of Washi tape of fun paws to a piece of white cardstock, then layered that with a piece of black cardstock to create a thin strip of black at the bottom and top,  I added a layer of foam tape and a double bow.

I heat embossed the sentiment in white on black then added a layer of foam tape. I finished the card with some tiny black half-pearls.

Supplies: White and black cardstock, Designer Paper - Recollections, Washi Tape, Simon Says stamp - Paws on our hearts and Punny Animals, pearls.

Season's Greetings

Merry Monday, crafty friends - I am working with green plaid for my card today.

I started with a piece of designer paper as my base panel; I die-cut a frame, then ran it through my Big shot with an embossing folder to add some woodgrain texture. I then die-cut a buck head from the leftover piece and ran it through with the same embossing folder. Why not emboss and then die cut? Adding texture was an on-the-fly change of plans:), I love creativity.

I added some foam tape to the frame and the buck to adhere them. I used a sentiment strip for the sentiment, then finished the card with some sequins.

Supplies: White cardstock, Designer Paper - Echo Park, American Crafts  - Open Book die-cut, Simon Says Stamps - sentiment strip, sequin.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #710 - Love life

I am playing along with Tuesday Morning Sketches for my card today. As soon as I saw this sketch, I had the idea for my card in my head and it turned out pretty close to how I wanted it to.

I started by die-cutting the mountain and cabin scene with an oval die cut from a piece of patterned paper. I used the same die cut to cut a second oval piece that I cut in half and used it to create an offset frame.

I cut a coordinating piece of designer paper for the bottom panel then I used an embossing folder to add a wood grain texture to a piece of brown cardstock, that I then die-cut with a strips die cut. I adhered the woodgrain strips with foam tape and added black sequins to each corner.

I finished the card with a matted sentiment sticker.

Supplies: White and brown cardstock, Designer Paper - Paper Rose, Simon Says Stamp - Strips die, embossing folder, sequins and sentiment strip.

Happy Birthday to you

Hello crafty peeps - I had fun making this card. I started with a panel of gray cardstock then added a layer of patterned paper.

I cut a piece of vellum and ran it though my big shot with an embossing folder, it is not glued down at all but secured with a fold top and bottom and glued to the the gray panel.

I die cut a circuit board from the gray cardstock and added it to the vellum. I layered a sentiment sticker on gray cardstock and popped it up with foam tape, I finished with some gem embellishments that look like metal.

Supplies: White and gray cardstock, Specialty product: Vellum, Designer Paper - Craft Papers,  Paper Rose - Circuit texture, sentiment stickers, gems.

Reminder to me, don't take a picture of a card in portrait mode, great for people, not so much for paper.

Great Birthday

Welcome to Washi Tape Wednesday - I am pretty impressed with myself for staying inspired to create with my washi tape.

This card was pretty easy to put together and I like working with the 49th and Market fabric tape.

I started by applying the tape to a panel of cardstock, I buffered it really well then die cut it using a rectangle die cut. I die cut the Tattered leaves from cream cardstock and glued them to the panel, I used a sentiment strip for the greeting and added some gems.

I adhered the panel to a layer of cream cardstock and then to a white card base.

Supplies: White and cream cardstock, 49th and Market Fabric Tape, Simon Says Stamp - Tatter Leave and sentiment Strip, gems.

Did you know: Washi tapes are also popularly known as Japanese masking tapes.

Season's Greetings

Merry Monday, crafty peeps; I am using the sketch from last week's Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge; it inspired me.

I started by cutting the patterned paper into strips and glued them to a black cardstock panel. I used the Track circle frame die and die-cut a snowflake for the center. I used a sentiment strip for the greeting.

I finished the card with some gems. I apologize for the bad image; the silver from the snowflake messed with the camera, so the picture is a little washed out.

Supplies: White, black and silver cardstock, Designer Paper - Memory Box, Simon Says Stamp - Sentiment Strip & snowflake, gems.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #209 - Happy Birthday

I am playing along with Tuesday Morning Sketches for my card today. I loved this sketch so much that I made two cards; you must wait till Monday to see the second one.

I still had the papers from Vicki Boutin on my table, so I decided to use them. I cut the patterns I wanted to use into strips and adhered them to a panel of black cardstock.

I die-cut a circle frame using the Paper Rose - Track circle frame, then die-cut a circle, stamped the sentiment, and popped it up with foam tape.

I finished the card with some gems.

Supplies: White and black cardstock, Designer Paper - Vicki Boutin, Penny Black - Smile Today, Paper Rose - Track Circle frame, gems.
