Happy Easter

Happy Friday - I am playing along with Tuesday Morning Sketches for my card today. I had a couple of false starts with this sketch, in the end I like how my card turned out.

I cut a panel of patterned paper, then die cut nine eggs then glued them to the pattered paper. I trimmed off the edges and backed the panel with cardstock.

I cut and layered sentiment strips and glue them to the panel. I added Nuvo glitter drops to each egg and adhered the panel to a card base.

Supplies: White and blue cardstock, Designer Paper - Craft, Simon Says Stamp - Sentiment strips, Memory Box - Filagree Egg, Nuvo glitter drops.

Dare to be different

Washi tape Wednesday for the win. This card was fun to make and I like how it turned out. I started with a panel that I layered some washi tape on the bottom half. I then ran the top have through my Cuttlebug, doing a partial emboss.

I added some washi to a strip of black cardstock, then layered that over top of the other washi. I die cut the butterfly twice and slightly over lapped them, the top butterfly was coloured with some ink blending.

I cut a sentiment strip and popped it up with foam tape, I added some Wink of Stella on the butterfly and added gems. I finished the card by layering the panel on some black cardstock and adhering it to the card base.

Supplies: White and black cardstock, washi tape, inspirational sticker, butterfly die, gems.

Gnome for the Holidays

Good Morning and Merry Monday - I am playing with some fun Photoplay paper and a gnome die cut for my card today.

I cut the base panel of cardstock then layered it with some black cardstock. I did the same with the cut gnome paper. I used coordinating paper on the gnome diecut to give it a festive outfit, I adhered it with some foam tape.

The sentiment is layered and popped up as well.

Supplies: White and black cardstock, Designer Paper - Photoplay, Simon Says Stamp - Gnome for the Holidays.

To plant a garden

Good Morning - Happy Friday, I am sharing a card created as part of the Tic Tac Toe challenge I mentioned in a previous post.

Do you have stamps in your stash that you look at and say that would look fabulous coloured, you buy it then realize that you really don't colour but maybe you could get away with ink blending...no? Probably just me :).

Anyhoo... I build this card around the image, I started with a panel of designer paper then added a layer of black cardstock. I stamped the image and used my Zig markers to colour it, then I added a layer of black cardstock and popped the panel up with foam tape.

Supplies: White and black cardstock, Designer Paper - Craft Consortium, Brutus Monroe - Tall Bloom.

Love

It's Washi Tape Wednesday, lol, it seems every post recently has been a washi post.

I had fun making this card, it was part of the Tic Tac Toe challenge I mentioned in one of my earlier posts. I started with the top panel and used a punch along the top.

I applied washi tape diagonally in two direction, alternating patterns and colour. For the most part I fold my washi tape under, so I added a layer of black cardstock to one, add a frame, and two to hold the washi tape in place. I usually don't need to do that unless the washi tape is older as a good burnish will usually keep it well adhered.

I stamped the flower, then coloured them with my zig markers and then fussy cut then out. I layered them up, using some foam tape, I finished the card with some gems.

I don't recall which of the tic toe elements I hit but it would have been punch, colouring, fussy cutting and perhaps washi tape.

Supplies: White and black cardstock, Washi Tape, edge punch.

Did you know: Chocolate milk was originally sold as medicine.

Thanks

Two birds one scone for my card today, I am playing along with Tuesday Morning sketches and I also tried the floating strips technique.

Disclaimer I am not entirely happy with my card, it looks too busy, and it took forever to make but I had fun while I did it.

So I may or may not have received some Washi tape in the mail yesterday, I am not admitting to buying any because I don't need it but when it magically landed on my craft desk I could not wait to peal and stick.

I started by cutting a panel and running it through my big shot with a texture plate. I then used some sentiment strip dies to cut washi tape and cardstock strips.

I die cut a acetate oval and applied a thin washi tape in a pattern. I laid out the flag pieces and adhered them them over laid the vertical strip using some foam tape. I added foam tape to the oval piece then added the lorelai leaf branch.

I die cut the sentiment three times to give it dimension. I added some black half pearls to finish.

Supplies: White, green and black cardstock, Memory Box - Pinpoint Leaf plate, and Lorelai Leaf,  Simon Says Stamp - Thanks Frame, Washi tape, pearls.

Let there be snow!

Good Morning and Merry Monday, I used a simple layout for the card today.

I started by die cutting some navy blue cardstock with my stitched die cuts, I then cut a piece of patterned paper to tuck inside the stitched lines.

I cut a second strip of coordinating paper and added a layer of navy cardstock to added a small border on top and bottom of the strip. I die cut a snowflake from white cardstock and glued it down. I added a large gem in the middle and smaller gems on the smaller snowflakes on the bottom panel.

I finished the card by added a sentiment with a layer of foam tape, and adhering the whole panel to the card base using foam tape.

Supplies: White and navy cardstock, Designer Paper - Echo Park, Simon Says Stam- - Sentiment strip and snowflake, gems.

Today I am sharing a very quick card. I used on of the Penny Black Masterpieces made simple, these make for very quick cards.

I created a quick border with a die cut and popped it up with foam tape. I tucked the masterpiece into the frame then I added a sentiment strip that is layered with cardstock to finish the card.

Hello Spring

Happy Saturday - I am playing along with Tuesday Morning Sketches for my card this morning. When I was making napkin panels, all four from the one napkin was usable. I love the spring like pattern so I made good use of them this week.

This is a fabulous sketch to work with, nice sized panels that can showcase patterns or textures. I die cut a a panel for gray cardstock and added some texture using an embossing folder. I lightly inked the edges. I then die cut the napkin panel and popped it up with foam tape, both panels were die cut with a stitched rectangle.

I cut strips of cardstock and let over napkin panel for the bottom of the card, added ink blending to the solid cardstock.

I added a sentiment strip and adhered it with foam tape and added some dew drops to finish.

Supplies: White, gray and peach cardstock, Spellbinders - embossing folder, Simon Says Stamp - sticked rectangle and sentiment strip, dew drops.

Happy Birthday

Happy Friday - I attempted a Fancy fold card this week, I did not quite make it right but the idea of it worked so I am sharing anyway.

Fun, or fancy fold cards have always been a challenge for me, it usually take me two or three times to get it right, but I always learn something new.

I started by cutting and folding the base of the fold. I used a napkin panel that I had in my stash for a while and I though the white marble would work nicely for this card.

I cut the napkin panel in half and used half inside the fold and die cut the second half. I added some gold cardstock along each side then glued the die cut piece in place (this is where I went wrong). I added a sentiment and a base in behind the panel to make a stand.

The way I glued the die cut piece prevents the card fold from collapsing as expected, this is where I messed up. I still like how the card turned out.

Supplies: White and gold cardstock, Paper Rose - Gum Leaf Border, Creative Expressions - Sentiment Strip, napkin.

Thanks

Morning all - for theme Thursday I chose coffee. This card was very easy to put together but it took a little time.

At the crafty retreat I attended a few weeks ago, Crystal challenged us with a Tic Tac Toe, for those of you not familiar it is very much like the game, you chose a row with three boxes and try to win the game, for the card I incorporated the items in the boxes onto my card, all three.

For my card I have fussy cutting, colouring and thank you. Colouring has never been one of my go to techniques but I really enjoyed making this card.

I started with a piece of black cardstock and added texture using an embossing folder. I fussy the coffee out, which is a digital stamp and coloured it using my Zig markers. I added a layer of foam tape to the back and some clear gems.

I finished the card with a sentiment strip which is layered on black cardstock.

Supplies: White and black cardstock, Simon Says Stamp - Sentiment Strip, Stamplorations - Bloomdala Coffee Cup to Go Digital, embossing folder, gems.

Welcome, Spring!

For today's card, Technique Tuesday, I made a napkin card. When I was at Superstore this past weekend,  I walked past a display, and quickly retraced my steps when napkins caught my eye. I don't need anymore napkins but this is such a pretty pattern and it's for art.

I found this background die cut frame on Amazon and could not resist.

I started by creating the napkin panel, once it was dry I ran it through my Big Shot, I did the same with some soft and dark gray cardstock. I fit them all together then popped the frame onto a light then dark gray panel.

I die cut a flower, and added some soft colour with my blending chalks, finished the card with a sentiment and some dew drops.

Supplies: White and gray cardstock, President's Choice - dinner napkin, Rectangle/Triangle background die, Simon Says Stamp - Etched Meadow flower and Leaves and sentiment strip, dew drops.

Fabulous

My camera did not catch the beautiful foiling that is all over the designer paper on the bottom panel of this card, I layered it with black cardstock.

The second panel is a coordinating pattern which is backed with black cardstock and foam tape. I stamped the sentiment and alternated layering cream and black cardstock to created a frame effect.

I added sections of privet branches in grey and cream to and finished with some gems.

Wishing You..

I should have posted this card yesterday and started a new theme day, "Washi Tape Wednesday", I like that idea perhaps next week. I don't lack Washi tape, in fact, the more I organize my craft room, the more I find some hiding in plain sight, having graced my shelves for so long that I just don't see it anymore.

A challenge at a recent craft retreat was a great inspiration, and I learned a great deal from other crafters on how they use Washi, for this card, I made it simple, and I created a panel.

I started by alternating with different patterns; I layered the panel with brown cardstock. I stamped the sentiments and then added a layer of both cardstock and foam tape, the card is finished with some metallic pearls.

Supplies: White and brown cardstock, Washi Tape, Penny Black -Special Sentiments, pearls.

Happy Birthday

I love this paper from Paper Rose, it makes creating a card for a musical person so easy. I started with creating the bottom panel from strips of coordinating cardstock, I layered that on some dark brown cardstock.

I created a second panel out of a scrap, layered with with cardstock then added the punch out guitar that is layered with foam tape. I stamped the sentiment on another scrap and angled it along the bottom. The card is finished with some metallic gems.

Supplies: White and brown cardstock, Designer paper, guitar, sentiment - Paper Rose, gems.

Epic Birthday

I had so much fun making this card; I started by laying down some washi tape and added some of the different die cuts from the sealed squiggles set in coordinating colours to the washi tape.

I created a wax seal with a blend of black and green, then glued it into place. I added some foam tape to the sentiment strip and adhered it. The panel is popped up with foam tape, and the card is finished with some Nuvo drops.

Supplies: White cardstock, washi tape, Spellbinders -Sealed Squiggles, bow wax stamp, wax, Simon Says Stamp - sentiment strip, Nuvo drops.

Washi Love and Hugs

I decided to use some washi tape that had been on my shelf for a long time; apparently, that stuff starts to break down after over 10 years; I made it work.

It is a simple design, covering a cardstock panel by alternating coordinating washi tape strips. I added a layer of black cardstock behind.

I cut a sentiment from a sentiment strip and then created a layered frame, 4 layers thick, alternating between black and white cardstock.

Supplies: White and black cardstock, Washi tape, Creative Expressions sentiment Strip.
