Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge #283

It is a blustery rainy mess outside, perfect for quality time in the craft room. I have grounds for crafty celebration as well, my sweet husband gifted me with a new toy this week and I would be remiss if I did not give it a thorough try.. right.. Check out this sweet crafty goodness..

Between this and my trusty 'Bug' I have all my embossing and die cutting needs well in hand.

My sister Barb has been on a challenge hunt as of late, looking for challenges that we have not tried before. So I am playing along with Hand Stamped Sentiment Sketch Challenge #283.

As I was sipping latte this morning ;), it was on the brain when I went on my supply quest for this challenge.

Keeping Christmas Inspiration Hop - February

Welcome back for February's Keeping Christmas Series.

Keeping Christmas is hosted on Kelly Lunceford blog, she has been posting Keep Christmas for some time.

For my card, I started with simple layers. I am a little disappointed with my top layer, I used Distress ink to add some script on the background but after a few hrs it just seemed to be absorbed into the cardstock. If you look really close you can still see hints of it.

I die cut the tree twice, first with the gold shimmer paper then again with the plaid to get the body of the tree. I have the tree popped up with foam tape. I heat embossed the sentiment then finished with Nuvo glitter drops.

This card would be so easy to duplicate and make multiples.

Supplies: Kraft and brown cardstock, Designer Paper - Gold Shimmer and Echo Park, Penny Black - Script, Hero Arts - Banners & Messages, Penny Black - xmas tree, Nuvo - glitter drops.

Be sure to stop by each team members blog:

Feeling Blue

I would love to be sunny yellow today thank you very much. Yesterday was a stunning day the beautiful sun swooped in and did a good job of melting some of the snow. I think more snow is predicted today though.

Children have such a way with words, some would say that thinking happy will make you feel happy .

I used this fun bright paper and used both sides dividing up the layout. I added a scrap from the same set to cover the seam. I heat embossed the sentiment and popped uit up with foam tape. I think finished by adding some Nuvo Crystal drops to some of the buttons on the patterned paper.

Supplies: White cardstock, Designer paper My Mind's Eye, Inkadinado - Friendly Advice, Nuvo Crystal Drops.

Be Mine..

I am a little behind in posting this card ;).

I started this card with the hearts, I had this little stack of them and then tried to figure out what I was going to do. They started out stacked up on top of one another and I was going to put foam tape between the layers to add dimension. As I was reaching for supplies I bumped them and they slid to almost what they are now and I like the effect.

I cut simple layers for the background and popped up the top panel, I  stamped the sentiment in black and popped it up as well.

Supplies: White cardstock, Designer Paper - Authentique, Clearly Besotted - Many mini messages, Memory Box - Classic Stitched Hearts.

Be Yourself

It was a stat holiday here in BC yesterday, so today is my first day back to work after a long long wonderful weekend.

I wanted to share another card from the retreat. Very simple in design and easy to make using just the designer papers and some card stock.

I layered the panels then popped up the sentiment with foam tape, the butterfly panel has lots of gloss as does the base layers so I did not want to add any additional embellishments.

Supplies: White and blue cardstock, Designer Paper - Kaisercraft.

Have a wonderful day,
Nina

My crafty adventures at the Honeymoon Bay retreat.

I attended my first Retreat/crop this past weekend, I jumped in with both feet and gusto. It was a four-day three-night adventure of fun. The retreat was located in beautiful Cowichan Bay and the wonderful Honeymoon Bay Resort.

I figured it was a good sign heading into the rainbow.

So, so beautiful.

The location was so pretty, the facilities were fabulous, the food outstanding the group of ladies were amazing. So creative and I love the sharing of crafty secrets and techniques, I walked away with a ton of new information and an exciting shopping list. I had the best time and am looking forward to more crafty adventures soon.

I was told that all this generous space and the large tables are not the norm but I was sure happy to stretch out with all my supplies. I thought I had over packed but I was rather light with my packing in comparison to some of the other ladies.

The wheeled office chair was a wonderful luxury.

I am a pretty slow cardmaker so I only produced around 21 cards in my time there but I am pretty happy with most of the results. It gives me lots of content for some blog posts over the next little while.

This card was pretty easy to put together, I took designer paper pads that had sentiments in them to make cards easy to produce. For this card I added a simple grey layer of cardstock to each layer, the sentiment is popped up with foam tape. The flowers already have beautiful shimmer and shine.

This sentiment was how I was feeling for most of my weekend;)

Supplies: White and grey cardstock, Designer Paper - My Minds Eye.

Two hearts - One lifetime

I had a little time in the craft room this past weekend I have seen lots of stencils and paste used with ink blended background lately so I thought I would play with this technique a little today.

I cut a square piece of cardstock and used a die cut to create a window. I made a slightly small square from some watercolour paper and did some ink blending. I pulled out my Faber Castel - glass bead paste and a stencil and added some texture over the blended ink.

Once it was all dry I added some sentiments to the top panel and popped it up with foam tape.

Supplies: White cardstock, Verve - Anniversary Birda, GRS Stencils - Distortion, Simon Says Stamps - Double Heart die.

Cheers,
