Merry Monday #90

I am so excited, it is the first Monday of 2014 and that of course means a brand new Merry Monday Challenge… but wait, we also have a brand new Merry Monday Challenge Blog site that is just fabulous looking.

To go with the brand new blog look Lesley has put together inspiration images to help us all along with getting crafty. This week the inspiration is… to Use Ribbon or Twine on your Christmas Card.

I have so much designer paper in my stash and some is so neglected, so I went digging and found this fun paper by Scenic Route. I went with a CAS card and used simple layers and a sticker that came with the paper pack; I backed it with a layer of brown cardstock. Where I had the fun was making the twine twist and turn.

Supplies: Cream and brown card stock, Designer Paper - Scenic Route, twine.

The Merry Monday team has been introduced, stop by the Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge blog to see all the fabulous samples they have created. Be sure to visit their blogs and leave a little comment love, and don’t forget it is never to early to start your Christmas cards so join in the fun.

Cheers,
Nina

Retro Sketches #96

Brr it is frosty outside my windows this morning, it looks like it is going to be a pretty and sunny day though. I have a quick post for the current Retro Sketches Challenge.

I was initially going to make this a CAS card and let the DP do all the work, however I found a scrap heart on my desk then the satin ribbon made the card a little more elegant so I switched from buttons to sequins and then I finished with script like sentiments. I used foam tape to pop up the heart and the primary sentiment.

Supplies: Cream and brown cardstock, Designer Paper – My Mind’s Eye, Flourishes-Taglines, satin ribbon, Embosslits, sequins

The Friday Mashup #141

I have had a few wonderful crafty days and I am loving it, this post is for a card for the current Friday Mashup Challenge.

I used lots of layers and a black base for each layer to add dimension. I fussy cut the clock and popped one layer up with foam tape and I finished with the sentiment and pearls.

Supplies: Cream and black cardstock, Designer Paper – Bazzill Basics, My Favorite Things-Inspired by Time, Recollections pearls.

Stampin' Royalty # 208

I had good intentions when I started to build my card for the current Stamping Royalty Challenge but then my DP scraps fell all over my card and I could not choose which ones to use and well….

The sketches is there, under a couple extra layers, sequins and twine :), I flipped it only because I glued it backwards... I guess what I am saying it is great that this card even got completed.

Supplies: Cream and brown cardstock, Designer Paper – Fancy Pants, Papertrey Ink – Birthday Bash, twine and sequins.

Birthday Firecracker

Birthday firecrackers J well it is supposed to be a candle but.. I think someone with a sense of humour will like it just fine.

I am joining the challenge fun for the first challenge of the year with Seize the Birthday; the challenge is to use numbers. I have already made my ‘number’ card for the year, but I have a ton of DP with numbers on it and in truth never really know what to do with it – silly me, I do now.

I did some layers, added a few sentiments then finished with a little Bang J. I have seen the rolled paper candles and decided to give it a go. I first tried a couple of strands of yellow twine… dynamite anyone, so then I tried a single piece of twine and it looked a little lost on the card. So then I decided to fringe some paper and used that… hence my firecracker..  I did add some glitter pen for a little sparkle.

Supplies: Cream and black cardstock, Designer Paper-Echo Park, Papertrey Ink-Birthday Bash.

Polka Dot Thanks

I always need a few Thank you cards at this time of year and I don't imagine I am alone.

I had this DP on the side of my desk from the card I made yesterday, so I figured it would work great and when you have enough scraps why not right?

I used simple layers, and then used a die cut for the sentiment.  I grabbed my Stampin' Up! embosslits for the hearts and popped them up with foam tape.

I loosely used this sketch as a template you can find it HERE. I am still debating if I should added some pearls or sequins.

Supplies: White and brown card stock, Designer Paper - Authentique, Avery Elle-Die Cute, Sizzix-Embosslits.

Fusion Challenge #1

A quick post for today for the current Fusion Challenge, I followed the sketch as I had already had my DP picked out when I found the challenge.

I used simple layers, and then added some die cut hearts popped up with foam tape as the three center elements. I added a ribbon with a knot in it and finished with a die cut sentiment. I also added a little texture to the center panel.

Supplies: Natural white and brown cardstock, Designer Paper Authentique, Simon Say-Die cut, ribbon.

Curtain Call - Smitten & Freshly Made Sketches #117

Post number three today, that is just crazy talk J.

I could not resist trying out the current Curtain Call challenge, this is a new challenge blog for me. I also decided to play along with Freshly Made Sketches.

I am going to go with what I am Smitten with in my craft room, right now it is sequins. I used a cream base with my card then added a layer of glitter paper. I used a variety of paper from my Cappella paper pad for the background and the flags. I added the sentiment and sequins to finish.

Supplies: Cream cardstock, brown glitter paper, Designer Paper – Basic Grey, Papertrey Ink - Birthday Bash, sequins.

I am going to head out for a walk after hiding out in my craft area most of the day.

Cheers,
Nina

Family Challenge #8

Me again..

My sister Barb decided to send out a family challenge to start of 2014 with a crafty bang. The challenge is simple enough.. use a button or buttons on a project.

I had already started a card for the new Colour Me challenge so I cheated and added a few buttons made with circle punches, then to added a little challenge drama and I also entered the current Tuesday Morning Sketches Challenge #130 which is an Anything goes. Is your head spinning yet, I know mine is, I can usually only juggle a single challenge (can you do a juggle of one?).

Anyway, I found some new Bo Bunny DP over the holiday, it is wintery but fit the colour for Colour Me so I cut around snowflakes and mittens J.  I used a kraft base, and then used black to layer all the elements. I added some thread to the buttons and finished with some twine.

Supplies: Kraft and black card stock, Designer Paper – Bo Bunny, Papertrey Ink – Birthday Bash, circle punch and twine.

Check out Barb and Judy’s blogs to see what they have created.

Cheers,
Nina

Happy New Year 2014!!

Happy New Year everyone, welcome to 2014!

I got crafty today :), well I have been crafty I just have not been able to post any of the cards… well not yet anyway.  Today I joined in the fun over at Cas(E) this Sketch, even if it is getting close to squeaking under the wire.

My little man, who is not so little anymore (towering over me by a few inches now) turns 20 on the 10th of this month.. eek. So this is my masculine card I made for him.

I dragged out my Cricut and dusted it off, I really don’t use it enough and cut some numbers. This card started out CAS but I don’t think the end result would be labeled that. I did some simple layers, added some of my new Trendy Tape and twine and finished with a sentiment. The numbers are popped up with foam tape.

Supplies: Natural white and black cardstock, Designer Paper – Bassill Basics, Papertrey Ink-Birthday Bash, Cricut, Trendy Tape, twine.

I spotted a new challenge a few mins ago, I might be back again today J

Nina
